Blue Economy - a Nordic perspective

Celebrating the Success of A’Pelago Initiative 2025 🌊

As A’Pelago Initiative 2025 concludes, it's time to express immense gratitude to all who made it a remarkable journey. From the engaging Sail Day with Nordic investors, where diverse languages filled the air, to the thrilling Pitch Challenge, every moment was unforgettable.

A heartfelt thank you to my co-founder Patrik Anckar, the entire A’Pelago team with Alina Sippolainen, Matilda Gustafsson & Sini Toivonen, dedicated advisors, valued Business Partners, enthusiastic Blue Academy volunteers, and our esteemed keynote speakers. Special appreciation to sauna/ing for the thoughtful gifts to our speakers. And a big shoutout to our fantastic facilitator, André Noël Chaker 🇨🇦🇫🇮. Remember, as the Swedish saying goes, ”Det är gästerna som gör festen” 💙

A BIG HAND to Ronald Tardiff for his insight and support. We are happy to be part of 1000 Ocean Startups.

Congratulations to Reverlast and Ossi Heiskala & team for clinching the Pitch Challenge victory 🤩 Hail to all Pitch Challenge participants. Excellent work!

Reflecting on A’Pelago Initiative 2025, here are my personal insights:

1. The Nordic community thrives on trust and a shared passion for the blue realm. Educating corporate leaders, family offices, and investors about the blue economy is pivotal for sustainable growth.

2. Exciting plans are underway for the Nordic Blue Accelerator programme 2026, featuring workshop modules in key cities like Copenhagen, Stockholm, Trondheim, and Turku/Åbo's Blue Economy Centre. The programme, supported by Danske Growth and local partners, promises innovation and growth opportunities 🇩🇰🇳🇴🇸🇪🇫🇮

3. Fun and camaraderie are integral to any successful event. The A’Pelago Initiative concept, with its unique atmosphere and engaging evening programs, may soon expand to Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. A big thank you to all dinner participants for your valuable feedback.

4. Redstone Blue Fund I was published at the event. The first VC fund investing in Blue Economy and adjacent climate technology startups across the Baltic Sea region and beyond. All family offices and institutional investors are most welcome to join in. Link to the news (paywall).

We will be approaching Nordic Accelerator & Business Partners in the next few weeks. Join the community. We are thankful to our original Accelerator Partners: Business Turku, Pargas stad - Paraisten kaupunki, LähiTapiola and Åbo Akademi University.

Thank you all for your input in the planning of the Nordic Blue Accelerator scope and especially Christine, Dorte, Klas, Rasmus and Susanne.

Have a relaxing weekend all!

Timo
