Nemo Seafarms - Marine Restoration

Great news from one of A’Pelago Accelerator startups: Nemo Seafarms has been awarded two major grants 🌊

🌱 Project Björkskär, Nemo Seafarms' collaboration with OX2 and Under Ytan, has received funding from Ålandsbanken Abp. This support will help drive forward their work on biodiversity-enhancing offshore wind solutions in the Baltic Sea.

🧫 In addition, Nemo Seafarms received funding from the Ympäristöministeriö - Miljöministeriet - Ministry of the Environment of Finland to kick-start a brand-new project developing biostimulants from cultivated and beachcast macroalgae—a major step in advancing their nature respective blue innovations.

By combining marine restoration, circular bioeconomy, and renewable energy, Nemo Seafarms is redefining what’s possible for blue economy solutions. We’re proud to support the rest of their journey.

Nemo Seafarms and Magnus Hanstén will also carry out a restoration project at Snäckudden, the sacred home and summer paradise owned by Nemo’s business coach Timo Ketonen and family. Magnus Hanstén will restore the bladderwrack on the shoreline and around the rocks by the buoy shown in the picture below. The water is clear in the spring and there is plenty of bladderwrack growing naturally. The intention is to make it grow more over the next four years. There is a male and a female species and together they grow a family of bladderwrack. Magnus is assisted by his wife and two daughters.
